The inspiration for Sedi_ale came from the desire to create a seating solution that stands out from the crowd. The name itself is a combination of the Italian words "sedia" and "sedile," which perfectly describe its functional use. The design philosophy behind Sedi_ale is minimalism, with clean lines and bright colors being its defining characteristics.
What sets Sedi_ale apart is its unique system of three legs, which not only provides stability but also creates a dynamic visual perception. The balance of the chair is controlled by these three legs, giving it a sense of movement and evoking different emotions depending on the color selection.
Both the chair and stool are constructed of steel and finished with electrostatic paint, ensuring durability and a sleek appearance. The stool can be used as a sitting element, a footstool, or even as a small table, adding versatility to the design.
The dimensions of the chair are W 550 x D 650 x H 850 mm, while the stool has a diameter of 400mm and a height of 500mm. Sedi_ale is available in black, red, yellow, blue, and green colors, allowing for customization to suit different spaces and preferences.
The conceptualization of Sedi_ale began in October 2014, and the prototype was created in November of the same year in Patras, Greece. One of the main challenges faced during the design process was ensuring the stability of the chair with its single back leg. However, the construction of the prototype proved that the three legs are efficient enough to create a functional and stable chair.
Sedi_ale has received recognition for its outstanding design. In 2015, it was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category. This prestigious award is given to designs that demonstrate exceptional creativity, innovation, and technical expertise. Sedi_ale's strong technical characteristics and remarkable artistic skill make it a truly remarkable piece of furniture.
With its minimalist aesthetic, vibrant colors, and unique design, Sedi_ale is a statement piece that adds elegance and comfort to any space. Whether used in a house or a workspace, this chair and stool set is sure to captivate and inspire.
